Our first year has established Wallspace as a venue which is prepared to take risks and to redefine what it means to put art in a sacred space...

Each of the five exhibitions set up a very different 'conversation' with the calm dignity of the 18th century building whose recorded tradition of worship goes back to around 1120. The last of these could not have been more different than the first. We began with Damien Hirst's New Religion, and ended with Centre + Circumference, an 'installation for contemplation' incorporating Jake Lever's architectural-scale, icon-influenced triptych of gold-leafed hands, accompanied by the music of John Tavener and Bjõrk, and featured contemporary improvised dance, courtesy of Laban students.
We have curated five exhibitions, hosted nine events and ten services, welcomed 5,298 people through the door of the church, and been supported by a wonderful group of 40 Founder Members.
