Wallspace was launched in December 2006 with a premier of An Important Trifle by Bobby Baker (right), one of Britain’s leading performance artists. Around 60 people enjoyed a meal and an opportunity to hear plans for the future of Wallspace.
In launching Wallspace, Associate Director Malcolm Doney said: “For as long as people have been searching for God, or exploring the sacred, they’ve also been making art: beating out rhythms and moving to their pulse, making images, telling stories, shaping stone... Art and spirituality are intertwined and fundamental to our being. As ever-present as food and sex, life and death.”
