29 & 30 June – 1 July 2009
With artists Marcella Montoya Turnill, Regan O'Callaghan and Lucy Brennan-Sheil
Silent Space was something of an experiment – a three-day, three-artist silent event with drawing and contemplation, encouraging anyone and everyone to experience a quiet space in the City. Loose sheets of paper were available and the floor spaces covered with paper for drawing. Visitors were given drawing materials and encouraged to take part. The artists led prayers, either said or using meditative silence, on each hour, visitors joining in, or simply sitting and observing. 92 people contributed to the artwork in the three days, filling the church with drawings and paper sculptures.
"Wonderful event. Felt very peaceful and creative. Please do it again."
